Earlier this year we attended the Event Production Show and Launched our Floating Bubbles Concept. A brand-new centrepiece that is a world away from the norm. We partnered with Guinea Pig Global, utilizing their technology to scale down their spheres for the centrepiece market. We guarantee that this will be the next ‘must-have’ table centre for corporate events.
The Event Production Show
For those of you who did not catch us at the Event Production Show, this is a blog designed to introduce you to the Floating Balloons. The Concept
The brainchild of designer Keivor John, he has spent the best part of a decade experimenting with the concept. The result is these extraordinary Thought Bubbles. Large scale balloon installations that seemingly float in air. Utilizing the Bernoulli Principle, sphere float on columns of high- and low-pressure air. In altering the airflow, the balloon rises and falls accordingly. With everything controlled with an app, these spheres are a truly dynamic addition to an event.
Guinea Pig Global
Guinea Pig Global launched their ‘Thought Bubble’ Product with the intention of introducing it to the corporate market. Consequently, they were designed to be an art installation, their original spheres were enormous. It is well worth exploring their website to get a true sense of the scale. You will find epic installations inside vast cathedrals and the balloons are far from lost in the space.
‘Thought Bubble’ Treatment
As the product grew more popular, it became apparent that branding would be the key to exploding their popularity. Groups like Google, Facebook and Intel came to Guinea Pig Global looking for branded Thought Bubbles and boy did they deliver! For instance, offering full coloured branding and custom choice latex for the balloon, the trend for these Thought Bubbles grew. As time went on, they downscaled the units to accommodate the wider corporate market. Introducing the smaller balloons meant that staging productions and entrance ways got the ‘Thought Bubble’ treatment.
So, the natural next step is getting these bubbles in the centre of tables, producing a version suitable for the table centre market. Here is where Table Art steps in…
The Design
Guinea Pig Global approached us in the early Summer of 2019. Looking to develop a Table Centre version of their Thought Bubble, they wanted a partner. Following an exciting meeting where the team from Guinea Pig brought along some samples to our offices, we signed ourselves up to the task!
The two design studios paired up, with the intention of getting the new centrepiece brought to the events market for the Winter Season. Work was well underway by late August, with teams developing the concept. Importantly for us, the system needed to work with the DMX lighting system. Fantastically, this was something Guinea Pig Global had already utilized with their larger pieces. Here was just a case of downscaling everything to suit a table setting.
Design Development
On the other hand, this is where things could have potentially got tricky. We needed to make sure the base unit was viable for a 6 foot round dining table, an industry standard for a corporate event. Sharing measurements, the two groups came up with a prototype to suit. Testing it in situ, we used a 6ft table to make sure it didn’t dwarf the setting. Luckily for us, the prototype was the perfect fit! Each base is a contemporary silver spherical shape so looks great on a table regardless. For those looking to add to it, they can add a brand direct to the base sides. To clarify, these are a great option if you are looking to bring the brand into an event on multiple levels.
Finalising the Floating Bubble
Once the design was finalised, we had 10 pieces commissioned for the introduction to our range. We decided the Event Production Show would be the perfect launch pad. We took a selection of branded Table Art Floating Bubbles with us and man were they a hit! Every passer-by couldn’t resist putting their hand above and below the balloon to see how the illusion was achieved. Without a doubt one of the most popular products featured on the stand. Therefore, we have recieved endless enquiries since the exhibit.

Award Shows
This is where we imagine the Floating Bubbles will be most popular. Picture your awards show when a big announcement is made. Now with the addition of the Floating Balloon as your table centre, you can only imagine the drama and excitement that will be created when the balloons ‘go crazy’ post announcement. Let me explain. For the dinner, your Floating Balloon sits elegantly above the table, perhaps in brand colours, softly bobbing around in the air. Once the awards begin, subtle colour changes in the uplighter indicate to your guests the change of tone. Then as the Winners are announced, our balloons rise and fall excitedly, a perfect mirror to the jubilant clapping and cheering from guests.
