Table Art Explores Event Technology Innovations in China
Last month, four members of the Table Art team embarked on an exciting 10-day research and development trip across Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, exploring the latest event technology innovations shaping the future of the events industry. Managing Director Gary Martin was joined by Technical Development Lead Andy Rawling, Designer Fred Martin and Product Development & Warehouse Lead Rob Adams as they visited manufacturing hubs, attended one of the world’s leading lighting exhibitions, and discovered new technologies that could influence future Table Art products.
Innovation has always been at the heart of Table Art, and trips like this allow our team to stay ahead of emerging trends in event lighting technology, product development and event design. While there’s plenty we can’t reveal just yet, we’re excited to share a glimpse into what the future could hold.
Innovation meets event design.
Our journey took us through Hong Kong before heading into Shenzhen, widely recognised as one of the world’s leading technology and manufacturing centres. The city is home to countless innovators developing cutting-edge electronics, lighting solutions and manufacturing techniques.
From there, the team continued to Guangzhou, another major hub for product design and large-scale manufacturing, where they attended one of the industry’s most influential technology exhibitions.
Every stop provided fresh inspiration and valuable insight into how new technology is transforming the events industry.
The Future of Event Lighting Technology
Our development team spent time investigating improvements in battery technology, helping us better understand how longer-lasting power solutions could benefit portable event products. Longer battery life means greater flexibility during installations, fewer charging interruptions and enhanced reliability throughout live events.
Alongside battery advancements, the team also explored new developments in lighting control and electronic circuit boards. These technologies have the potential to improve performance, increase reliability and open up exciting new creative possibilities for future Table Art products.
As technology continues to evolve, we’re committed to ensuring our lighting solutions remain both innovative and dependable for our clients.
Where the future of lighting comes to life.
A highlight of the trip was visiting one of the world’s largest international lighting exhibitions in Guangzhou.
Walking the exhibition halls offered an incredible opportunity to experience the latest developments in LED technology, intelligent lighting systems, interactive displays and creative production techniques. From immersive installations to smart lighting controls, the exhibition showcased how rapidly the industry continues to evolve.
For our team, it wasn’t simply about seeing new products—it was about gathering ideas, identifying emerging trends and understanding how future technology can enhance the experiences we create for our clients.
Innovation often starts with inspiration, and there was certainly no shortage of that.
The trip wasn't solely focused on lighting.
Our team also explored exciting ideas surrounding event furniture innovation, particularly portable and flat-pack furniture solutions.
As event production continues to demand greater flexibility, furniture that is easier to transport, quicker to assemble and more efficient to store has enormous potential for both venues and production teams.
While these concepts are still very much in development, we’re excited by what we’ve seen and hope to share more details in the coming months.
Watch this space.
Always exploring. Always innovating
Research and development has always been a vital part of how Table Art continues to evolve.
Whether we’re improving our lighting technology, refining our manufacturing processes or discovering completely new product ideas, investing time in exploring global innovation helps us deliver better experiences for our clients.
Trips like this also strengthen relationships within the wider industry while giving our team the opportunity to see emerging technologies first-hand—often long before they become commonplace within the UK events sector.
Although much of what we explored remains behind the scenes for now, we’re incredibly excited about what the future holds.
Returning from China, our team brought home far more than photographs and memories. They returned with fresh ideas, valuable technical knowledge and renewed inspiration that will help shape the next generation of Table Art products.
From advances in battery performance and lighting technology to exciting concepts for portable event furniture, the trip reinforced our commitment to continuous innovation and exceptional event design.
As new developments progress, we’ll be sharing more updates with you, so keep an eye on our website and social channels for the latest news from the Table Art development team.
